The last of the snow?

Clissold Park was chilly this morning. https://flic.kr/p/2o6nfkF . https://flic.kr/p/2o6iskJ . https://flic.kr/p/2o6ispg . https://flic.kr/p/2o6isz6 The remans of snowmen slowly disintegrating across the playing fields. It is possible that most will be melted tomorrow. Open puddles lay in the gutters this afternoon. Heavy, slightly wet sounding clumps of snow are falling off the trees and bushes. Autumn in Clissold Park and Church Street.

I love autumn. The chillier days, the change of the seasons, but the unseasonable warmth is holding on this year. The intermittent deluge from the passing showers has left a deal of mud. The hose pipe ban is still in place though. The underground water sources have yet to recover. https://flic.kr/p/2nYvNfS It is warm enough…Read more Autumn in Clissold Park and Church Street.

Photos of the reservoir path today.

The sun came up in a clear cloudless sky, a brilliant, hard light. It was hot already even though it was early. Probably sleep was lacking among the people in the flats (who were making no sound, having a lie in?) and the swans and water birds, (who were still asleep). There was no stirring…Read more Photos of the reservoir path today.

Reservoir walk before a hot day.

I strolled around this morning, early, before it got too hot. https://flic.kr/p/2nyVcEt Clissold Park pond. Then the reservoir path.... https://flic.kr/p/2nyMtwB https://flic.kr/p/2nySKXd https://flic.kr/p/2nyV9Xj Under the trees, with green around me, it felt cooler. There was one place where the reflections of ripples lit up the bank. It seemed to be mesmerizing, calming. I taped 10 seconds....…Read more Reservoir walk before a hot day.

A walk a few days before the hot weather warnings.

The next few days have the first extreme weather warning London has ever had. It is due to be scorching hot on top of the present drought. Yesterday it all looked like this. In Butterfield Green the grass is brown. A young fox rummaged through the rubbish bin. https://flic.kr/p/2nyG3eS I put out a water bowl…Read more A walk a few days before the hot weather warnings.

Sunrise walk to the reservoir, Stoke Newington (London).

After a few weeks of IT problems it was Good Friday and all was well. A need for wide open spaces had me walking out the front door soon after 5am, to find the dawn chorus was underway. A perfect start to the day. https://flic.kr/p/2neBrWK At the reservoir the ducks and geese were starting their…Read more Sunrise walk to the reservoir, Stoke Newington (London).

Coot fight club

https://flic.kr/p/2n1G46A It is the mating season coming up, and the coots are pairing off. Mass outbreaks of violence, attempted drownings and generalised bullying are taking place in plain sight. https://flic.kr/p/2n1G3J3 What started as one pair fighting spread to other groups. https://flic.kr/p/2n1AJCc The coots are in such a highly energised state that they are attacking everyone…Read more Coot fight club

Dawn over the deer enclosure, (photo).

Clissold Park, a Victorian park, has some animal in the central area. There are a couple of goats, an aviary with budgerigars and love birds, a butterfly house, and some deer. https://flic.kr/p/2mYDbNp Dawn, reflected in a pond which is the remnant of a blocked off river. (Click on the photo for a larger view). .…Read more Dawn over the deer enclosure, (photo).
